Dr. John Burnett grew up in Bakersfield, California and has been in practice in Fresno for over 25 years. He has built a trusted reputation as the area’s most caring and experienced board-certified plastic surgeon. Dr. Burnett believes looking good and feeling good are closely connected. He will listen to your concerns and will help you discover the many surgical and nonsurgical options available to help you reach your beauty potential.
After graduating from San Jose State University with a degree in business, Dr. Burnett attended the University of California, Davis for his pre-med studies. His first two years of medical school were in Mexico where he quickly learned the language and to this day is fluent in Spanish. Dr. Burnett transferred to the Medical College of Virginia and completed his medical degree in 1980.
Surgery was of particular interest to Dr. Burnett. Following the completion of a general surgery residency in Fresno, California, Dr. Burnett spent two years at Southern Illinois University training under Dr. Elvin Zook in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. After completing his training, Dr. Burnett returned to Fresno and has been practicing since 1988. As a Board-Certified General and Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Burnett’s practice includes reconstructive, cosmetic and hand surgery. In addition, he offers an array of non-surgical treatments including injectables and laser treatments.
Dr. Burnett is a car and sports enthusiast and speed is of no concern to him. In the summer you can find him competing in time trials in his sand dragster and in the winter you will find him racing down the mountain side at our local ski resort. Restoring old cars is also a passion of Dr. Burnett’s as well as partaking in all of the local car shows and exhibits. Golf is another favorite past-time of Dr. Burnett’s and he’s always proud to boast his 10 (?) handicap with his patients.
Giving back to his patients and others is of great importance to Dr. Burnett. Over the course of his time practicing, Dr. Burnett saw firsthand the intense financial and emotional struggles of single mothers undergoing cancer treatment. Out of his concern and desire to assist these women, Dr. Burnett founded Mighty Moms Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides resources and financial assistance for women struggling to maintain their households during this very difficult time.
