Breast Lift

The more we age, the more our bodies begin to experience unwanted changes that can make us feel insecure about the way we look. This is especially true for many women who believe that their breasts no longer make them beautiful. Breast lift surgery (mastopexy) is a surgical procedure that can improve drooping or sagging breasts that can result from weight loss, pregnancy, or aging.

Benefits of Breast Lift Surgery

Addresses Sagging

Sagging of the breasts, or ptosis, occurs in many women as they age and is often due to pregnancy, breastfeeding, or weight loss. Breast lift surgery will recontour the breasts to create a more lifted, youthful, and shapely figure.

Corrects Nipples That Point Downward

Some women may develop downward-facing or enlarged nipples and areolas as a result of aging. Breast lift surgery can reposition and improve the projection of the nipple-areolar complex to create a more youthful and natural appearance.

Improves Self-Esteem

Many women whose breasts have begun to sag may feel self-conscious about their appearance. Breast lift surgery will not only restore the bust to its once youthful position, but it can also boost a woman’s confidence and self-esteem.

Your Breast Lift Surgery

Concerns

Recovery

Following your breast lift surgery, dressings or bandages will be applied to the treated area. Swelling and bruising will occur but should resolve after a few days. You will also be asked to come in for a follow-up appointment seven to 10 days after the operation to make sure everything is healing well. Dissolvable sutures are used for this procedure, so no sutures can be seen with the naked eye. You need to make sure to avoid all strenuous activities for at least four weeks unless instructed otherwise by Dr. Burnett. Depending on the type of work you perform, you may be able to return to work in one to two weeks after your surgery.

Scars

Scarring will depend on the technique used for your breast lift procedure. While some scars can be hidden within your natural breast contours, others may be visible on the breast surface. Most scars can be hidden with clothing and will likely fade over time. Dr. Burnett has a scar therapy regimen that he recommends postoperatively to help minimize the appearance of scars.

Pain

You will experience some discomfort and soreness following your procedure. Dr. Burnett will prescribe medication to help minimize the pain.

Cost

The cost of your breast lift surgery will vary depending on several factors including anesthesia fees, surgical fees, technique, and the amount of correction needed. Dr. Burnett will provide you with a cost sheet during your scheduled consultation.
